My Blog Experience

As usual, I do not know how to start writing this blog but it is the last! Hahaha. Blogs have been a new experience that has disconnected us from the typical way of learning English and connects with the use of technologies to learn, in general it has been a good experience where we can express ourselves and learn more about our colleagues, their hobbies, tastes and other things!

To be honest my writing skills have not improved much, hahaha, but if I have learned many synonyms of some words that helped me write the comments every week, I dont need to repeat and not always write the same words, and although I did not learn much writing , I learned a bit of vocabulary with the blogs I have read.

In the future I really do not know what else to add. Maybe some topics were missing, although I had fun writing some, It would have been good since we wrote about our favorite movie, write about other favorite things like music, food etc. It was very fun to read fellow blogs and their comments, I also loved in the blog of the animal or the favorite pet see many pictures of puppies! I love dogs hahaha.

My favorite animal

My favorite animal is the Sea otter,  I remember watching  a video in Facebook some years ago there they player and cared for their pup. I like the sea otter because they are very adorable, affectionate and smart.

Sea otters live in coastal waters,  and they are distributed in several countries as in Russia, EEUU, some places of Asia and Chile. In Chile is called “Chungungo” and it's less hairy than the North Hemisphere. The sea otter may also pluck snails and other organisms from kelp and dig deep into underwater mud for clams, they eat in the morning, sleep during the middle of the day and go back to look for food before sunset.

Male sea otters usually weigh 22 to 45 kg and are 1.2 to 1.5 m in length and females are smaller, weighing 14 to 33 kg and measuring 1.0 to 1.4 m in length.

The females are very affectionate with their puppies, occasionally even care for orphaned puppies!,  a mother gives her infant almost constant attention, cradling it on her chest away from the cold water and attentively grooming its fur.

Unfortunately they are in danger, because sea otters have the thickest fur of any mammal, is a main target for many hunters. 

A subject I enjoy studying this semester

I did not know very well about which subject to write in this blog, but I think that many factors lead me to choose "Study of political phenomena"

"Study of political phenomena" It is a subject where we study the different political phenomena, in theory and also related to the national reality, Basically we study political science, its key concepts, which are necessary for the study of political and social phenomena, all this around politics, power and statistics, politics in the state, politics as a process and politics as result.

I like it because it serves us as public administrators has known how these political and social phenomena affect the decision making on public policy matters.  The teacher makes classes very dynamic, with interaction of the students, is interested in knowing our opinion about the topics we see in class and that we have a critical view of these phenomena.

It is not difficult at all, at least for me, especially because the texts are easy to read, explaining everything clearly, especially the examples

Finally, I am very happy to have learned all this, because it helps me to understand things like social movements and how they interact like politics and it is really great!

An expert on your field

At first I did not know what to write this blog about, but I decided to tell you about an expert that marked my previous semester and a great innovator within the public administration.

Alvaro Ramírez Alujas holds a degree in Political Science, Public administrator and Master in Management and Public Policies of the University of Chile.  He is currently a Doctor of Political Science - Government Mention and Public Administration of the Ortega y Gasset University Research Institute, assigned to the Complutense University of Madrid. In addition to Academic of the Institute of Public Affairs (INAP) of the University of Chile.

The most important thing is that he is the founder and principal investigator of the Research Group in Government, Administration and Public Policies (GIGAPP) and international consultant in open government, public innovation, state reform and institutional strengthening. He is also president of the “Fundación Multitudes”,  which works towards an open state to improve governance and reduce inequality.

Ramírez Alujas was the teacher who taught us that we can innovate in public administration, that it is possible that it is not so bureaucratic and more open to citizenship. His classes were very dynamic and the tests were not on textual matter, rather, he wanted us to issue our critical opinion and learn based on experience.

My Hobbies

It's really hard to choose a hobbie to write about here, I'm always doing new things, courses or learning in a self-taught way, but I do not usually be constant, so I chose something that I've been practicing for many years, the bakery. Started from small with cookies and then I was trying to do more things, I have done glazing courses, fondant -is an edible icing used to decorate or sculpt - and basic pastry, I am very proud of everything I have learned. The best thing I did was my birthday cake last year, I liked it a lot as it looks.

Lately I took advantage of being in Santiago to take courses that in my city do not exist, the last one was Japanese calligraphy or Shodo, It is really difficult, we use brushes and ink, there were several classes just to learn 9 strokes. My final work I probably wrote it more than 100 times, each stroke has an order and a space within a square. The final Kanji that I wrote was to fly 飛, so I made a sky background with watercolor.

My favorite picture

This photo was taken in 2014, in the “Alameda” of Talca, it was the next year after graduating from high school, with one of my best friends we went to visit our former school for national holidays, some of our friends showed up with typical dances and we decided to visit them and support them.

Then we went through the “Alameda” until we reached a new coffee is our favorite until today.

The picture was taken by a friend of ours and the bicycle really was not mine, it was called "cletus" and it was from a great friend that I had left it to my care that day. I really like this photo because even though the years go by we are still friends and that was a great day, also because it reflects one of my favorite hobbies: the bicycle, was my great means of transport and at the same time I relaxed pedaling every day (:   

My favorite movie

First of all, more than a specific movie, my favorite movies for the Star Wars saga. The first movie of star wars was released the 25th mayo of 1977, in usa, at the time there are 9 movies of the saga and soon a tenth will be released, han solo. Is a movie of science fiction, everything happens in space, with ships, aliens and more. The films deal with several topics, from politics, family, religion-the jedi-, technology, power struggles, economic inequality and many other underlying issues.

The cast has changed over time, since more than 40 years have passed since the first movie, but there are three main characters, who start the saga: Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Carrie Fisher as Princesa Leia Organa.

Currently the protagonists of the last two films are: Adam Driver as Ben Solo / Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron.

The first movie I watch was episode III- Revenge of the Sith  for its premiere in 2005, my father is a fan of the saga, so I went to the movies with him, after that he gave me the six movies. Although episode III was the first one I watch, for me the best movie will always be episode IV A New Hope, because it was when everything started.

                                                                                                                                       

My favourite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my phone. 
The first Iphone I had been in 2012, since then I have not changed brand. Now I have an Iphone 7, I like very much because is pink, I changed it two months ago, the previous one gave me problems with the battery. 
I like my phone because its camera is of high quality, I love taking pictures but I cannot take my professional camera everywhere, so this helps a lot. I also like that the case are very nice and cheap, so I can change them regularly. The bad thing is that I can not pass music easily to my phone, the system is not very compatible with windows, so I had to install spotify and pay for them.
My first phone he was nokia, it was really impressive at that time, unfortunately it was stolen on the bus, the good thing is that I did not lose the number, because Entel gave me a new chip, today I have the same number as years ago.
For now I would not like the new version of the Iphone, because it really does not have many changes.

Why did I choose my career/study programme?

Since I was little I liked Reading, at first, I wanted to be a history or language teacher, but everyone told me that I should study something different. As time passed, I had to choose alternatives in my city, because there was no possibility of studying in Santiago. After the "psu" my score serves for all humanistic career, which are few in Talca, so I enter Law.  That race was not for me, the teachers seemed dictators and the student atmosphere were terrible, my goal was to work in the public service in courts or "fiscalía”. I decided to get out of that career and achieve my goal directly. I gave myself a sabbatical year where I learned the basics of some languages and joined a volunteer. Finally, I gave the psu again and get to what I really wanted, public administration.

The vocation of public service was what motivated me to enter the career and a great teacher taught me that we are here to achieve big things, that can change the living conditions of the people who really need it, knowing that I can contribute to the happiness of the rest makes me very happy.

Who I am?

I'm Andrea Ramírez and i'm a student of public administration in Univesity of Chile , I'm in my second year.

I was born in Talca, Chile in August, My zodiac signs is Leo. I am 22 years old. In Talca I studied in Liceo Abate Molina but in 2011 I changed to San Jorge School. In 2014 I went to University of Talca to study Law. I was not happy studying Law, I decided to leave it. 

In the year that I do not Study, I went volunteer at "Teletón", I learned many things and met wonderful people. I was part of the program "Ocio y Tiempo Libre", we shared with patients in their free time, I was also part of program "Redes", managers of comunication and social networks.

Well my favorite movie is Les Miserables. because I like musicals and the historical epoch in wich this movie happens. I like reading and my favorite books are those of Chilean history, for example Balmaceda of Carlos Tomben or Logia of Francisco Ortega.
I like play games, especially those of Nintendo, my favorite game is Pokemon for Nintendo 3DS.
